Hi, I’m Ana Poets, founder of Kids Cooking Adventure.

My love for food began in Bolivia, where food has always been a way to bring people together, share traditions, and create connections.

My passion for food led me to earn a Bachelor's degree in Food Science and later a PhD in Plant Breeding. Today, I continue working as a scientist with the goal of helping improve our food systems and supporting a better future for farmers.

But some of my most meaningful discoveries about food have happened in my own kitchen.

Why We Are Different

Kids Cooking Adventure is more than a cooking class. It is a shared experience designed around the connection between children and their caregivers.

Children Lead

Young chefs take an active role in the kitchen. They measure, mix, create, and make choices while building confidence and independence.

Families Connect

Caregivers are not spectators. They join the adventure as cooking partners, supporting children while allowing them to discover what they can do.

Cultures Come Together

Through food and language, families explore traditions, celebrate diversity, and create connections beyond the kitchen.

Our Mission

At Kids Cooking Adventure, our mission is to create meaningful experiences where children feel capable, families strengthen their connection, and food becomes a bridge between cultures.

Through cooking, children develop confidence, independence, creativity, and curiosity while sharing moments their families will remember.

The Story Behind Kids Cooking Adventure

As a mother of three, I have experienced the joy of cooking alongside my children and watching their confidence grow.

Since my oldest child was able to safely use his hands, he has been my little sous chef. I still remember seeing the pride in his eyes when our family sat down to enjoy a meal that we created together.

I chose not to limit my children's kitchen experiences to cupcakes and cookies. They became part of preparing real meals, exploring ingredients, and learning that their contributions mattered.

Yes, cooking with children can take a little longer, but those moments of connection have become some of my favorite parts of the day.

I have also seen how involving children in the cooking process can transform their relationship with food. Even with my own picky eaters, curiosity grew when they became part of creating the meal.

When children participate, they develop ownership, confidence, and a willingness to explore new foods.

The Moment Kids Cooking Adventure Was Born

When my middle daughter was four years old, I wanted to create a special experience just for the two of us—a chance to connect outside our everyday routines and create a memory together.

I searched for cooking classes designed for young children and their caregivers, imagining a place where we could work together, where she could explore, move, play, and take ownership of the experience.

But I could not find what I was looking for.

Most cooking classes were designed either for adults or for children, but I wanted something different: an experience created specifically around the relationship between a child and their caregiver.

I imagined a place where children could feel capable and proud, where adults could participate without taking over, and where the process of creating together mattered just as much as the final dish.

That missing experience became Kids Cooking Adventure.

Children Lead. Adults Support.

At Kids Cooking Adventure, children are active participants—not just observers.

Caregivers join their young chef as true cooking partners. Adults are part of the experience, but children are encouraged to take the lead.

Adults may hold a bowl steady, pass ingredients, or help when needed, but children are the ones measuring, pouring, mixing, creating, and making decisions.

"I made this. I can do this."

Confidence grows when children are trusted with meaningful responsibilities.

Celebrating Language and Culture Through Food

As someone originally from Bolivia, I know the power of food and language to connect us to our roots.

Food carries stories. It connects generations, preserves traditions, and gives us a way to share who we are with others.

This is why Kids Cooking Adventure also offers Spanish cooking experiences designed for families who want to celebrate and strengthen their connection with Spanish.

These classes welcome Spanish-speaking families who want their children to maintain their heritage language, children who understand Spanish but need more opportunities to practice, and families who want to explore Spanish language and culture together.

Many children naturally shift toward speaking English after starting school. My hope is to create a joyful space where children feel proud of Spanish, connect with culture, and experience language through something everyone loves: food.
